FIREARMS SHIPPING SERVICE IN MAINE
SHIPPING FIREARMS:
We do offer USPS shipping of firearms to licensed dealers. We prefer to ship handguns but we will ship long guns as long as we have a box available to do so. Long guns are much more time consuming to package (reinforcing the barrel end so it does not break through the end of the box) and there is a lot to think of when packaging them. If you want to package them yourself but leave the box open so I can access the make, model, caliber, and serial number that is a possibility. The length, width, height, and weight of a package can dramatically effect the cost of shipping.

Did you know that UPS and Fedex no longer allow private individuals to ship firearms through them? USPS will not allow private individuals to ship handguns through them but will allow private individuals to ship longuns BUT many dealers will not accept firearms shipped from a private party. They will refuse the package and you will have to reship the item through a dealer.

- The cost to ship a handgun is $25.00 plus the Paperwork and packing fee per firearm which is $25.00 (each) for USPS Priority Mail shipping on a standard length handgun. So a total of $50.00 to ship one std sized handgun. Handguns must be shipped via a 2 or 3 day service. Handguns cannot be shipped via standard ground shipping. If you are shipping more than one handgun, a large handgun, or a handgun with accessories the shipping cost may change depending on several factors. A large handgun or handguns with accessories would cost atleast $35.00 plus the Paperwork and packing fee per firearm which is $25.00 (each) for USPS Priority Mail shipping. If you have more than one handgun, a large handgun, or a handgun with accessories it is always best to come in for a quote. Insurance is about a $1.80 per $100 value.

- The cost to ship a long gun is $45.00 (Starting price. Some I may charge more) paperwork and packing fee per firearm (Assuming I have the box to do so. Long guns can take a lot of work to package correctly) plus $35.00 - $60.00 for USPS standard ground shipping depending on the length, width, height, and weight of the package. So a total of $80 to ship one std sized long gun. Destination is also a consideration. Insurance is about a $1.80 per $100 value. If you are shipping more that one long gun the cost may change depending on several factors. You can package the long guns up yourself but I need to be able to pull them out of the packaging in order to get information off the firearms. I do not use Priority Mail for shipping long guns due to the risk of damage due to rough handling.
DETAILS:
- We will only ship firearms to the lower 48 states. No shipping to Alaska or Hawaii. An extra fee of $15 applies if we have to ship to California which is a pain. We prefer not to ship there as all firearms have to be approved by the DOJ of California before they are shipped or they will be refused.
- We do not ship ammunition, primers, or powder.
- Make sure the firearm you want us to ship complies with all laws in the destination state. The firearm may not be legal in the state you want us to ship to.
- Firearms cannot be shipped to private party.
- We must have a file copy of the dealers FFL that you want us to ship to. We canot ship the firearm to them without it. They can email that to us at sales@mainegundealer.com. They must include your information so we will know who it is for.
- Keep in mind the receiver will have to pay a transfer fee when they pick it up. Dealers can charge from 20-70 dollars per firearm for an FFL transfer.
- When the firearm is shipped we can email you a copy of the tracking number.
